Recap: River View Black Bears vs. Maysville Panthers
The River View Black Bears struggled with assists on Friday (the Maysville Panthers had 19 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. River View was outmatched by Maysville on the road and fell 81-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points River View has scored all season.
Several Black Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Layton Massie, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Massie continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Andrews, who scored nine points.
River View struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Leading Maysville to victory were Jordyn Watson and Alex Bobb. Watson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Bobb scored 34 points along with six assists and three steals. The game was Bobb's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gator Nichols, who scored nine points along with seven assists.
River View's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3. As for Maysville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River View will face off against Sheridan at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maysville, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri-Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 287 points over their last four matches.
