Softball Preview: Nelson vs. Westview Wildcats
Nelson are taking a road trip to challenge the Westview Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nelson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Nelson will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Aloha on Monday. Nelson put the hurt on Aloha with a sharp 15-5 win.

Addison Osterholm and Emma Hazel did most of the damage at the plate: Osterholm scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Hazel scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Hazel a new career-high. Abigail Huspek was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Nelson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Westview didn't have quite enough to beat McMinnville on Tuesday and fell 5-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westview's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Nelson, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.
Nelson couldn't quite get it done against Westview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-8. Can Nelson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
