Softball Game Preview: Kouts Mustangs & Fillies vs. Bremen Lions

The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies will head out on the road to square off against the Bremen Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kouts is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Hebron on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Hawks. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs & Fillies were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Bremen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Glenn 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Chrissy Grabowski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over nine innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run.

In other batting news, Delainey Neher was excellent, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one RBI.

Bremen's record is now 6-11. As for Kouts, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-7.

Kouts couldn't quite get it done against Bremen when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Mustangs & Fillies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
