Football Recap: University Academy Charter/Kauffman's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against Pembroke Hill two weeks ago, University Academy Charter/Kauffman came back down to earth. The Gryphons came up short against the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians on Friday, falling 31-7. If the Gryphons were looking for revenge after losing 41-26 to the Guardians when the teams met back in October of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

St. Michael the Archangel had a senior duo take command as Luis Tellado rushed for 134 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry and Gage Burgess rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown. Those 134 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Tellado.

Having lost for the first time this season, University Academy Charter/Kauffman fell to 3-1. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

University Academy Charter/Kauffman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they will challenge Hogan Prep Charter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
