Volleyball Recap: South Webster Falls Despite Big Games from Avary Claxon and Emma Campbell

South Webster entered their game against Gallia Academy on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Jeeps fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2. The Jeeps were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

South Webster took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 15-25, 20-25, 25-13, 15-6.

South Webster's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Campbell and Avary Claxon. Campbell had 11 digs and four assists, while Claxon had 13 kills and eight digs. Claxon is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

South Webster's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Gallia Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

South Webster and Gallia Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Jeeps will challenge Minford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (84 vs. 289). Meanwhile, Gallia Academy (ranked 54th) will meet Chesapeake (ranked 255th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
