Softball Game Preview: Steele Comets vs. Strongsville Mustangs

The Steele Comets will take on the Strongsville Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Strongsville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Steele, who comes in off a win.

Steele lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Avon Lake, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's match. The Comets were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Shoremen on Monday. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Strongsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shaker Heights.

Addison Heidenhoffer was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Heidenhoffer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hartman, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Strongsville's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Steele, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.

Steele came out on top in a nail-biter against Strongsville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
