Basketball Recap: Coosa Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from DJ Johnson and Jaylen Worfford

Coosa was the 80-56 winner over Dade County when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Coosa Eagles took a hard 55-37 fall against the Dade County Wolverines on Saturday. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Coosa's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylen Worfford, who posted 12 points and three steals, and DJ Johnson, who earned seven points and seven boards. Worfford has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Even though they lost, Coosa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Dade County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryson Shrader, who had 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Jace Anderson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 17 boards.

Coosa has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Dade County, they pushed their record up to 6-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
