Basketball Game Preview: Oceanside Pirates vs. Carlsbad Lancers

The Oceanside Pirates will face off against the Carlsbad Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Oceanside is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Torrey Pines on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Oceanside was outmatched by Torrey Pines and fell 70-33. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-15.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad came up short against Rancho Buena Vista on Wednesday and fell 55-45.

Oceanside dropped their record down to 9-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Carlsbad, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Oceanside beat Carlsbad 58-45 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Oceanside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carlsbad turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
