It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Mary Central Catholic had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Danbury Lakers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cullen Dillard was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Blake Finneran, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

St. Mary Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Danbury only posted an OBP of .188.

St. Mary Central Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Danbury, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
