Academy for Classical Education beats Rutland for their third straight win

Recap: Academy for Classical Education Gryphons vs. Rutland Hurricanes

The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on Rutland with a sharp 34-14 victory. The result was nothing new for Academy for Classical Education, who have now won seven matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Academy for Classical Education can attribute much of their success to Kaleb Scarbary, who threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Whitley, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Academy for Classical Education's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.5 points per game. As for Rutland, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Academy for Classical Education will head out on the road to face off against Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rutland, they will be playing at home against Kendrick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kendrick comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
