Basketball Game Preview: Colonial Grenadiers vs. Winter Park Wildcats

Colonial is 9-1 against Winter Park since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Colonial Grenadiers will face off against the Winter Park Wildcats. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Colonial has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Winter Park will arrive with five straight victories.

Last Friday, Colonial ended up a good deal behind Ocoee and lost 59-41. While losing is never fun, the Grenadiers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Knights are ranked 24th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Aracelis Cruz, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Those five boards gave her a new career-high. Yaneyla Pedraza was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Winter Park had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 36-28 win over Hagerty on Tuesday.

Winter Park pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Colonial, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.
