Preview: Washburn Millers vs. Roosevelt Teddies
The Washburn Millers will head out on the road to face off against the Roosevelt Teddies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only two points in their last matchup, Washburn made sure to put some points up on the board against Minneapolis South on Tuesday. Washburn walked away with a 56-49 victory over Minneapolis South. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Washburn.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against North Community as Roosevelt made off with a 60-34 win. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while North Community is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roosevelt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Wren out in front who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Jaida Walker was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
The victory got Washburn back to even at 7-7. As for Roosevelt, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
Washburn was dealt a bruising 67-32 loss at the hands of Roosevelt when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Washburn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
