Volleyball Recap: Hinkley Comes Up Short on the Road Against Aurora West College Prep Academy

Hinkley had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Aurora West College Prep Academy Spartans by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Hinkley took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-14, 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 17-15.

Luis Rangel Cepeda paced Hinkley's offense, picking up eight kills. Rangel Cepeda got some help from Sanip Rai and his 14 assists. Finally, Jayden Dotson kept Hinkley's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Hinkley will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Manual at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Aurora West College Prep Academy, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
