Softball Recap: Patterson Takes a Loss

Patterson had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 7-15 to make it five. They lost 13-1 to the Central Catholic Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in March.

As for Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Central Catholic's part, Sophia Santillan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Santillan has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ceriah Fitzhugh was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Samantha Nichols, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Patterson will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central Catholic, they will square off against Manteca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
