Basketball Recap: Lee Robinson Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win

Omaha Westside won the last time they faced Lincoln Southeast and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Omaha Westside Warriors walked away with a 64-53 victory over the Lincoln Southeast Knights. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Knights are ranked 35th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Omaha Westside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lee Robinson led the charge by putting up 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Robinson now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Emre Gedik was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

Lincoln Southeast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mari Shumaker, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 17 points and six boards, and Mike Ngoyi, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. Ngoyi's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Chewy Thoat, who put up nine points and five boards.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lincoln Southeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Omaha Westside will square off against Buena Vista at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Omaha Westside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Lincoln Southeast, they will face off against Lincoln High at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southeast is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.
