Baseball Recap: Easthampton/Hampshire Comes Up Short

Easthampton/Hampshire extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-14 in the process. They lost 17-9 to the McCann Tech Hornets. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly eight runs.

Jason Sigda was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 16 times he's played.

As for McCann Tech, their win bumped their record up to 11-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On McCann Tech's side, Hayden Barrett was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Barrett was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Meaney, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Rondeau, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Easthampton/Hampshire nor McCann Tech have any future games scheduled.
