Softball Game Preview: Mendota Trojans vs. Orion Chargers

The Mendota Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Orion Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

On Thursday, Mendota came up short against Kewanee and fell 9-4. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Alexis Nave made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Orion scored first but ultimately less than Riverdale in their contest on Thursday. They lost 15-4 to the Rams. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Orion, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Mendota might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Orion in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
