Two dominant backs in Dylan Ball and D'marcis Gresham are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Escalon Cougars and the Roseville Tigers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Escalon put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They took down Orestimba 42-28. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Warriors are ranked 638th).

Logan Huebner was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 221 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Escalon proved: they limited Orestimba to a paltry -1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Conner McDowell for the heroic effort on defense: he. Escalon didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.8.
Escalon's defense also made the game a nightmare for Giovanni Gudino, racking up eight sacks. Kolton Kjellberg was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, Roseville was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 35-23 win over Placer. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Hillmen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Gresham and Danny Sanchez-Harlow. Gresham had a great game and rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Meanwhile, Sanchez-Harlow was balling out in the loss, rushing for 188 yards while picking up 11.1 yards per carry.
Roseville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Justin Fischer and Duane 'Peanut' Hawkins.
Roseville's record now sits at 8-2. As for Escalon, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Escalon has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Roseville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 199.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
