Last Tuesday, Palm Desert strolled past the Knights with points to spare, taking the game 56-40. Given Palm Desert's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Knights are ranked 718th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palm Desert can attribute much of their success to Jake Brande, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, and Coby Christensen, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Brande is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wil Wilson, who scored six points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Palm Springs put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Xavier Prep on the road to the tune of 72-30.
Palm Desert is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. As for Palm Springs, their win bumped their record up to 25-2.
