Basketball Recap: Jacksonville's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jacksonville had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 58-49 win over the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jacksonville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ra-Shawn Echols, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Echols has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Carson Leifheit, who posted 13 points.

Despite the defeat, Northside - Jacksonville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jamir Mitchell dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards set a new season-high mark for Mitchell. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaliel Caraballo, who scored ten points.

Jacksonville's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Jacksonville will head out on the road to square off against Havelock at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Jacksonville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 58-30 defeat against J.H. Rose on the 31st.
