Soccer Recap: Fort Payne Comes Up Short

Fort Payne fought the good fight in their overtime game against Southside on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. It was the first time this season that Fort Payne let down their fans at home.

Yair Barrientos and Hayden Chambers scored both of Fort Payne's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Fort Payne is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10-2. As for Southside, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Southside will face off against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Payne will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers' matchup: after the Panthers faces off against Mountain Brook, they'll take on Fort Payne again at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
