Baseball Recap: Atchison County Comes Up Short

Atchison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 8-1 to the Hiawatha Red Hawks. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly seven runs.

Atchison County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Bottorff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Atchison County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Hiawatha, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-4-1.

Coming up, Atchison County will face off against Horton on Monday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hiawatha, they will head out on the road to challenge Silver Lake at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
