Basketball Game Preview: Pike Central Chargers vs. South Spencer Rebels

The Pike Central Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the South Spencer Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pike Central is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Pike Central was beaten by Washington 70-28. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Hatchets are ranked 64th).

The losing side was boosted by Cameron Roy, who posted seven points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (two).

Meanwhile, South Spencer was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 55-51 to Mariemont.

Pike Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for South Spencer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Pike Central took their victory against South Spencer in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 63-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pike Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
