Softball Game Preview: Yuma Criminals vs. Cortez Colts

The Yuma Criminals will head out on the road to square off against the Cortez Colts at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Yuma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

Yuma is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Cibola on Friday. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 12-1. The Criminals' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Yuma saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elia Palencia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Palencia has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, Cortez didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Sunrise on Thursday and fell 11-9.

Yuma's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Cortez, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
