Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Heights Huskies vs. Westfield Shamrocks

The Hamilton Heights Huskies will challenge the Westfield Shamrocks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Hamilton Heights came up short against Cascade on Friday, falling 8-2.

Kamryn Rhoton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on Friday.

Westfield's victory was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ava Kainrath, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Westfield has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Hamilton Heights, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Westfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hamilton Heights has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Westfield, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Hamilton Heights' sizable advantage in that area, the Shamrocks will need to find a way to close that gap.
