Recap: Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons vs. Manatee Hurricanes
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 38-0 defeat at the hands of Manatee on Friday. While losing is never fun, Charlotte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Manatee is ranked 79th).
Logan Flaherty threw for 48 yards on three of ten attempts. Brady Hall was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, Jamari Vaughn rushed for 26 yards.
Manatee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Heidel out in front who punched in a rushing score, and also threw for 191 yards and a touchdown while completing 95% of his passes. Trayvon Pinder was in the mix too, providing Manatee with two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Charlotte and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Manatee, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Charlotte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Manatee will play host again and welcome Riverview Sarasota, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverview Sarasota is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
