Volleyball Recap: Shawnee Heights Comes Up Short

Shawnee Heights was the 2-1 winner over Washburn Rural when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Thunderbirds fell just short of the Blues by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Shawnee Heights sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-14, 19-25, 25-23.

Shawnee Heights' loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Washburn Rural, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Shawnee Heights and Washburn Rural will both be playing Blue Valley Northwest the next time they take the court. The Thunderbirds will host the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Blues will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
