Softball Game Preview: Clinton Prairie Gophers vs. North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers

The Clinton Prairie Gophers will take on the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. North Montgomery took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Clinton Prairie, who comes in off a win.

North Montgomery will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Clinton Prairie extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Gophers were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Clinton Central. The Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for North Montgomery's offense. They lost 10-0 to Lebanon on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Chargin' Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

North Montgomery saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisley Gillan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Clinton Prairie pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for North Montgomery, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Everything went Clinton Prairie's way against North Montgomery in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Clinton Prairie made off with a 24-5 win. Do the Gophers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargin' Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
