Basketball Recap: Harmony Area Owls vs. Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels

The Harmony Area Owls were the 66-35 winner over the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Harmony Area took a 62-45 bruising from the Black Knights/Damsels on Wednesday. Harmony Area has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Harmony Area lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Bracken. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That was a full 53.3% of Harmony Area's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Hagens, who scored eight points.

Harmony Area has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Moshannon Valley, their win ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-13.

Harmony Area will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Blacklick Valley's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Owls have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. Moshannon Valley will take on the Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Juniata Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
