Basketball Recap: Stanton Takes a Loss

Stanton lost against Humphrey-Lindsay back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Stanton Mustangs were beaten by the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs 76-39. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Stanton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Barrett Wilke, who posted eight points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Logan Tiedtke, who had six points.

Wilke wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Stanton was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Owen Kurtenbach continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Humphrey-Lindsay, going 10 of 14 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The game was Kurtenbach's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Friesen, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points along with six boards and four steals.

Stanton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Stanton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-40 loss against Oakland-Craig on the 10th. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 76-33 defeat against Scotus on the 9th.
