Recap: River Oaks Mustangs vs. Sylva Bay Academy Saints
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the River Oaks Mustangs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to River Oaks of the 41-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Sylva Bay Academy found their leader in underclassman Cash Pickel, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Brody Boyd was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.
River Oaks has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
River Oaks does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sylva Bay Academy is on the road again on Friday and plays Hillcrest Christian at 7:45 p.m. on February 9th. Hillcrest Christian will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Sylva Bay Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
