Preview: Davie War Eagles vs. Mount Tabor Spartans
Davie and Mount Tabor are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Davie War Eagles will be playing at home against the Mount Tabor Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
Last Friday, Davie's game was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past Glenn with points to spare, taking the game 21-7. The win made it back-to-back wins for Davie.
Davie's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ethan Driver, who picked up 154 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Ty Miller, who threw for 396 yards and three touchdowns. Davie also got help from Braddock Coleman who showed off his sure hands for 111 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Mount Tabor can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Parkland 48-8 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Mount Tabor who now have four in a row.
Zion Thompson went supernova for Mount Tabor, rushing for 201 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Their wins bumped Davie to 7-3 and Mount Tabor to 6-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Davie has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 289.4 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Mount Tabor, though, as they've been averaging only 154.6 per game. How will Mount Tabor fare against such a dominant passing game?
Davie and Mount Tabor were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October, but Davie suffered an agonizing 35-34 defeat. Will Davie have more luck at home instead of on the road?
