Basketball Recap: Dow Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Dow lost to Midland back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Dow Chargers came out on top against the Midland Chemics by a score of 53-45. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Chemics are ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dow is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Midland, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Dow and Flushing will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Midland, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bullock Creek at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
