Basketball Recap: Mercy Piles Up the Points Against Mead

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mercy). They claimed a resounding 69-18 win over the Mead Raiders. The victory was some much needed relief for the Monarchs as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mercy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madisyn Grzebielski, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Beran, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Mercy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Mercy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Mead, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy will head out to challenge Ashland-Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mead, they will venture away from home to square off against Brownell Talbot at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brownell Talbot's defense has only allowed 23.5 points per game this season, so Mead's offense will have their work cut out for them.
