Softball Recap: Saline Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Saline had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Hudsonville Eagles 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Zosia Mazur looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hastings, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bellus, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Saline's victory bumped their record up to 25-3-1. As for Hudsonville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 33-4 record.

Saline wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-2 win against South Lyon on the 14th. Hudsonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
