High school football: Long runs, defensive game-changers highlight this week's Top 10 Plays of the Week

Four of nation's best come from Lone Star State.

Breaking off a long run changes the course of any football game. Six big touchdown runs were pulled off in spectacular fashion last week, highlighting the MaxPreps Top 10 Plays of the Week.

The six rushes combined to total 456 yards, including Jayvon Davis of Nimitz (Houston), who tied a national record with a 99-yarder.

The best of the best was a 59-yard touchdown run by Robert Giaimo of Bartlett (Tenn.) that featured a spectacular hurdle, two broken tackles and a fantastic block from a teammate.

As usual, defense was well represented by a pair of remarkable pick-sixes pulled off by Mark Staley of Gretna (Neb.) and R.J. Martini of Delbarton (N.J.).

Four of the top plays were executed in Texas, including a 90-yard run by punter-quarterback Joshua Tarver of Fort Bend Austin (Sugar Land) following a bad punt snap.

With playoff action kicking in throughout the country, check back each week throughout the rest of the season to see the wildest highlights from the prep gridiron with hosts Steve Montoya and Zack Poff.
