Baseball Recap: Cox Mill Comes Up Short

Cox Mill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln Charter Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Chargers have lost by just one run.

Braden Greene was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Trendyn Motley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Cox Mill: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 5-8 otherwise.

Cox Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Lincoln Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Cox Mill will take on Providence Day at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence Day will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Cox Mill surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lincoln Charter, they will take on Charlotte Country Day School in a tournament on Wednesday.
