Baseball Recap: Grant Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Grant's win against Newaygo wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Lions on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.

Austin Tyers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grant saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Kiliszewski, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Kiliszewski has hit this season.

Grant's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Newaygo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Grant will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
