Belleville West won the last time they faced Granite City and things went their way on Monday too. The Maroons skirted past the Warriors 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Maroons have posted since April 22nd.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (71-70) Belleville West actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Aidan Idrees paced Belleville West's offense, picking up seven kills. Idrees got some help from Tyler Lintz and his 22 assists. Idrees was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Belleville West is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-16 record this season. As for Granite City, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Belleville West will face off against Father McGivney Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Granite City will be paying especially close attention to the Maroons' game: after the Maroons face off against the Griffins, they'll take on Granite City again at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
