New Castle extends road losing streak to three

Recap: New Castle Trojans vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

The New Castle Trojans suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They suffered a tough 70-50 loss at the hands of Greenfield-Central. While losing is never fun, New Castle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Greenfield-Central is ranked eighth).

Despite the loss, New Castle saw an underclassman step up: Mason Miller scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Taylor, who scored ten points.

It was another big night for Braylon Mullins, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Greenfield-Central. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mullins has scored at least a third of Greenfield-Central's points. Braden Robertson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.

New Castle's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-8. As for Greenfield-Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

New Castle will head out on the road to square off against Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Rushville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Greenfield-Central, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Eastern Hancock at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th.
