Baseball Recap: Kennedy Catholic Gets the Win

Kennedy Catholic barely beat Fordham Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gaels' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Gaels in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

Vince Cannizzaro made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Cannizzaro was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Kennedy Catholic got a big performance out of Lance Morgan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Morgan also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season. Dom Rubino was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Kennedy Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

The win got Kennedy Catholic back to even at 2-2. As for Fordham Prep, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
