Baseball Game Preview: Parker Thundering Herd vs. Jackson-Olin Mustangs

Parker has gone 8-2 against Jackson-Olin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Thundering Herd will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Parker is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Last Saturday, Parker made easy work of Woodlawn and carried off a 20-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Thundering Herd, who have now won 11 matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Parker got a massive performance out of Courterius Bedgood, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Bedgood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Terrion Nevels, who went 2-for-4 with seven RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Parker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodlawn only posted an OBP of .458.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Olin lost 21-6 to Shades Valley on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Mounties: they've now lost six in a row.

Amarion Caldwell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Kamryn Jones was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Parker has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Jackson-Olin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-21.

Parker was able to grind out a solid victory over Jackson-Olin when the teams last played back in March, winning 15-10. Will the Thundering Herd repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
