Volleyball Recap: Village Christian Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Village Christian won the last time they faced Monrovia and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Village Christian's got stronger as the match went on, holding Monrovia to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-18.

Brandon Reed paced Village Christian's offense, picking up ten kills. Reed got some help from Walton Salazar and his 22 assists. Salazar also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Mark Lee, racking up three apiece.

Village Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for Monrovia, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11.

Looking ahead, Village Christian will head out to challenge Heritage Christian at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to square off against South Pasadena at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
