Softball Recap: Port of Los Angeles Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Port of Los Angeles had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Eagle Rock Eagles by a score of 5-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Polar Bears also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2017.

The team relied heavily on Jimena Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Abigail Bazan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Port of Los Angeles' win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Eagle Rock, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Coming up, Port of Los Angeles will face off against Legacy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Polar Bears surely won't give up without a fight. Eagle Rock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
