Basketball Game Preview: Marion County Mustangs vs. Brashear Tigers

The Marion County Mustangs will challenge the Brashear Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Marion County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.

Last Tuesday, Marion County beat Atlanta 70-57. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Hornets are ranked 141st).

Meanwhile, Brashear took a blow against Green City on Tuesday, falling 74-46.

Brashear's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Marion County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Marion County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-54 loss to Brashear when the teams last played back in January of 2024.
