Basketball Recap: Plaquemine Comes Up Short

Plaquemine was the 49-46 winner over University Lab when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Plaquemine Green Devils might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the University Lab Cubs an easy 66-40 win. While losing is never fun, the Green Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Cubs are ranked sixth).

When it comes to explaining why Plaquemine lost on Monday, don't look at Comora Davis. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points. Davis' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Shai Gillis was another key player, putting up six points.

Plaquemine has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for University Lab, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Plaquemine and Baker will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for University Lab, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Amite at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
