Softball Recap: Madison Kennedy Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Coventry

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Smithfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Coventry Oakers by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 on May 13th.

Crystal Cacador made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Cacador wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madison Kennedy, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Smithfield's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Coventry, they moved to 13-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Smithfield nor the Oakers have any future games scheduled.
