Softball Recap: Silverado Comes Up Short

Silverado was the 12-6 winner over University Prep when they last played one another back in April of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Silverado Hawks lost 9-2 to the University Prep Jaguars on Friday. The matchup marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Silverado saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Valdez, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Naomi Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Silverado and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for University Prep, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Silverado will be taking part in a tournament against Academy for Academic Excellence at 10:44 a.m. on Saturday. Silverado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season. As for University Prep, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars face off against the Cougars at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. University Prep also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 10.2 runs per game.
