Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Pirates vs. Crestview Rebels

The Southeast Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Crestview Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Southeast had to suffer through a 71-36 loss at the hands of Newton Falls. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Crestview lost to Lowellville on the road by a 59-42 margin on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now lost six in a row.

Southeast will have to contain Jameson English as he made an impact in Crestview's last game. He went 9 for 21 en route to 25 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave English a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Evan Neff, who posted six points along with ten boards and four steals.

Crestview's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Southeast, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Southeast beat Crestview 58-49 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Crestview's Jonathan Best, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 21 points and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Southeast still be able to contain Best? There's only one way to find out.
