Basketball Recap: Salem Hills Falls Short Against Ranked Cedar Valley

On Friday, Salem Hills faced Cedar Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Salem Hills Skyhawks fell 56-45 to the Cedar Valley Aviators. The Skyhawks have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Loss or not, Salem Hills got some senior leadership from Brooke Warren and Chenielle Nye. Warren posted 17 points along with six steals and five boards, while Nye earned eight points and 15 rebounds. Warren continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Even though they lost, Salem Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 25 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Salem Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Cedar Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
